Caring Matters

Hospice Caring, Inc. leverages volunteer hours and donated professional services to ensure the success of its programs.

HCI is the leading organization in Montgomery County targeting the needs of grieving children through its expansive programming. This includes a partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools which allows HCI to offer children bereavement services during the school day. Camp Erin, is the only county bereavement camp for children and adolescents specifically.

HCI services also provide unique support to patients and their families in circumstances where patients do not always meet the conditions for medical hospice. The Volunteer Helping Hand programs illustrates HCI’s understanding of the need to support the anticipation of death when patients have a life-threatening illness with a poor prognosis.

HCI also partners with local organizations such as YMCA Youth and Family Services, Family Services, Inc. and EveryMind. This has led to referrals, expansion of linguistically diverse materials, and increasing volunteer numbers.

Need

With an aging population in the county, there is a need for programs to provide socio-emotional support to individuals and their loved ones as they approach the end of their life, as a complement to their medical or palliative care.

Mission

To provide caring, compassionate, practical and high-quality, non-medical support services, without charge, to every Montgomery County adult or child who is facing a life-threatening illness or is grieving the death of a family member or loved one.
