Working Toward a Goal
At the end of each 10-week program, there is a celebratory 5k event. The 5k is an opportunity for the girls to test out their physical, social, and emotional progression. The lessons and activities are planned with the end goal in mind.
The girls learn to respond to others and themselves with care and compassion. Lessons and activities further develop their abilities to sympathize and empathize both within and beyond their social groups.
Girls learn how to create meaningful connections with one another, as well as with parents and caregivers, teachers, peers and their communities. Lessons include focusing on cooperative skills and team building in a fun, and positive group setting. The program is also an opportunity to build connections among fellow peers.
The 10-week program provides an opportunity for young girls to find their inner-strength while exercising their physical strength. Girls develop skills to address social pressures and conflicting messages about how they should act, and who they should be. By doing so, they are taught how to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.
