For the past 20 years, hundreds of organizations have used Maryland Nonprofits’ Standards for Excellence® Code to help nonprofits become more sustainable and accountable.  Learn how to use the Standards to propel your organization forward in this 2-hour introductory course.  The course will provide an overview of the Standards for Excellence 67 performance indicators and give participants an opportunity to asses their own organizations.  Attendees will learn how to tap into a complete library of the resources available to nonprofits who wish to use the Standards for Excellence to strengthen their organizations. The concepts covered are relevant to organizations of all sizes.

  • Identify the four components of the Standards for Excellence Program.
  • Describe the 6 major areas of nonprofit governance and management and 27 sub-topics topic that provide a structured approach to building capacity, accountability, and sustainability in nonprofit organizations.
  • Assess their nonprofit organization’s existing policies and practices and compare them to the Standards for Excellence benchmarks.
  • Identify the most challenging Standards and discover ways to implement these Standards in their organizations.

Maryland Nonprofits is authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing education programs and maintains full responsibility for this program. This class qualifies for 2.0 CEUs in Category I for social workers licensed by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.  CEUs can be issued for an additional $15 above the member/non-member fee.
