Maryland Nonprofits’ Board Excellence Workshop is an interactive, virtual program that covers the most important aspects of board operations. Participants will leave with clarity about the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors as a governing body and their roles as board members.

Participants will explore:

  • Board conduct and how to develop a well-rounded, effective board of directors
  • What it means to be legal and socially accountable
  • Principles of sound financial oversight
  • The board’s role in fundraising
  • The role of the board as “employer”
  • Role of the board versus staff

Each participant will receive Maryland Nonprofits’ Board Excellence Handbook (a $25 value), which will be shipped in the mail prior to the course date. Therefore, registration for this program will close on January 18.

IMPORTANT: When registering, please enter the mailing address that you would like your board Excellence book(s) to be sent. Books that must be shipped twice due to an incorrect address can be mailed to you for an additional fee of $30.This is an interactive program. Who Should Attend:

Board Excellence is suitable for organizations big and small, regardless of mission focus. This program is most appropriate for organizations with paid staff. To get the maximum benefit, we strongly encourage at least two board members and one senior-level staff member register to participate. Staff members are discouraged from participating without a board member. Up to four participants per organization may register. If your nonprofit is an all-volunteer organization, please register for Board Excellence Workshop for All-Volunteer Organizations being held on February 3, 2021.

Log in to the Member Portal to access ticket prices for Maryland Nonprofits members ($35) and Nonprofit Development Center participants ($12).
