This year has pulled the societal curtain back revealing the glaring inequities that have plagued this nation since its creation. Those inequities are apparent in pandemic related health disparities, increased race-related hate crimes, rampant police brutality against Black and Brown people, and the list goes on.
Those examples are just a sampling of the systemic oppression that is woven throughout the fabric of our society. Although systemic oppression should be everyone’s “problem”, many of us are at a loss as to what we can do spur societal change and disrupt the inequitable status quo. Though we are aware that “something has to change”, we are unsure where to begin. It feels overwhelming because we do not feel equipped to have challenging conversations about privilege, bias and oppression. If you feel similarly, then participating in this introductory Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging webinar might be the first step that you are looking for.
During this one hour webinar, you will:
• Learn the basic elements of a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) framework in an accessible, non-judgmental way.
• Understand DEIB related terms and definitions to build a strong foundational understanding of how to move beyond awareness of societal inequities towards creating space for traditionally marginalized folks and reallocating resources to promote inclusion and belonging.
We understand that beginning this work may seem like a daunting effort, so we create a learning process that encourages transformative self-reflection, engaged participation and supportive accountability.
