2014 Small Nonprofit

Maryland Women’s Business Center

The Maryland Women’s Business Center (MWBC) work with women across the state to start, sustain, and grow their businesses. MWBC does so through workshops, individual counseling, facilitated peer group support, special resources, and access to capital.

Because of their commitment to navigating women through entrepreneurship, MWBC was recognized as the 2014 Small Nonprofit Award Recipient at the Nonprofit Village’s annual Making a Difference Awards Breakfast.

At its inception, MWBC supported women in Montgomery County but has since expanded to Frederick County and Prince George’s County. In 2014, MWBC was selected as one of 11 women empowerment nonprofits to receive a grant award from Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekend. The following practices are what contribute to the growth and development of women entrepreneurs in the community.
